A Tribute to Raj:
Spreading Goodness Together
On April 15th, 2020, a simple Facebook request honoring Raj Mehta’s 20th birthday sparked a global movement. Today, the Raj Mehta Day of Good continues to grow, bringing new programs and partnerships annually. Now more than ever, we’re reminded of the power of small acts — and we’re grateful to have you.

Who is Raj Mehta?
A Legacy of Light and Kindness
Raj Samir Mehta was a friend, son, brother, and a source of joy and kindness to everyone around him. Known for his "smile that could light up a room" and his gift for making people feel special, Raj’s warmth and compassion left a lasting impact. When he passed away on March 27th, 2020, the world lost a bright light.
The Raj Mehta Day of Good honors his legacy by encouraging acts of kindness on the day he came into the world. We keep his spirit alive and continue to share the love and positivity Raj brought to the world.

Raj came into this world on April 15th, 2000 (a tax baby!). What better way to celebrate his birthday than to let his light shine through? If you can’t do something on April 15th, no worries! The date is somewhat arbitrary, the whole point is finding a meaningful way to do good, however feels right to you.
-
Yes, absolutely! If you’re also grieving the loss of a loved one, and want to spread light in their name, please do—it would be an honor to have their name known through this platform.
-
No! There is no required cost to participate, and any money you choose to spend to do good is totally up to you. And there are a ton of free things you can do! For example
Donate blood
Volunteer at a food bank, a homeless shelter, or an animal rescue
Call your parents or grandparents if you haven’t in a while
Do a trash pickup at your local park
Give away that pile of clothes that’s been sitting in the back of your closet for the last 3 years
And so much more! Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
-
Doing good can be fun, and what’s more fun than stickers? It’s just a way to show that you’ve participated, and a great way to show off some incredible favorite artists. Each year will have a new design so you can collect them if you want!
-
Not at all! The theme is just a way to challenge participants to think outside the box and expand the way people think about doing good. Participate however feels comfortable and remember–doing good can be easy!

Looking Back on Our Journey
2024:
Give Me My Flowers Now
This year, nearly 700 people took part in the Raj Mehta Day of Good. It marked the launch of our Day of Good, Together program, where community members organized their own initiatives—including the first co-branded Run for Raj at Duke University. We also introduced a theme for the first time, encouraging people to be more intentional in their acts of kindness. It was inspiring to see so many give their loved ones their flowers while still enjoying them for themselves.

2023: Our First Sticker!
This year was the year we started building our community! We had people register to participate for the first time and were able to see just how big this day of action was (314 registered participants in 35 states and 6 countries). This was also the first year that we had a sticker made, inspired by the sunrise that kept Raj’s sister going after his passing.

2020-2022: The First Years
Raj passed away on March 27th, 2020, just 8 days into the COVID-19.
For his 20th birthday, we shared a simple request on Facebook: go out and do something good for someone else. In the early years, the Day of Good was informal and mostly involved those close to the Mehta family. But we knew it had the potential to reach far beyond our personal circles—and from that vision, the Raj Mehta Day of Good was born.
